BtVS and Joss’ world don’t have a set guideline of levels of canon like the Star Wars world does but still works the same way. If Lucas changes something it is law - despite whatever was written by another author or by himself at a previous time. To say that the comics aren’t canon when they are written by Joss - the sole CREATOR of these characters and this world - is kinda not true. And I haven’t even read the comics.
LMAO This is cracking me up, Mari. Joss has also said in interviews that if he got a movie deal, he would throw the comics out the window. When are people going to realize the man constantly contradicts himself?

I know that it is her decision but in a way, that kind of makes me sad? I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe because it would be nice for Joss to do a pro-pregnancy storyline aside from the three monstrous Cordelia pregnancies, and then Darla's. Pregnancy can be a very beautiful pro-woman thing. I just wish Joss could see past his Second Wave brand of feminism to see that. It really hurts my heart, I guess? Because he has NO pro-sex, pro-pregnancy storylines that aren't lesbian.(this is re: Buffy’s recent decision in the comics, so spoilers in my response!)
This encapsulates so many of my feelings about the comic. Because I think that most of us agree that it’s a strong, emotional, decision that we’re proud of, but…idk. This feels like a missed opportunity to give us something else entirely- and I feel that the pro-choice message we’re getting is strong enough even if she does keep the baby now.

Joss always contradicts himself. There are as many pro-B/A comments as there are anti-B/A, pro-Spuffy, pro-C/A. He knows how to work the media to get press and coverage. He panders. He is interested in ratings and selling ad space, just like any showrunner. People should never take his word to heart. You don't need his blessing or support to ship/love something.
To be devil's advocate but in regards to Jasmine (and Skip) they are both highly unreliable narrators. They are manipulating situations in order to bring Jasmine about. I do think "The Trial" explanation is probably the best one and Jasmine says it in canon, however I do think there can be other fanon explanations for vampire pregnancies in the Buffyverse. Hell, in Port Charles, it was a magic ring that did it and Darla did have a new piece of jewelry on LOL. ;)Fair argument, though I’m pretty sure that Jasmine was the writers’ mouthpiece in that case. It makes sense without proving to be a piece of Jasmine’s scheme, anyway. :)
LOL! I’m pretty sure that Joss does what he wants, in the end, though kudos to him for managing something that worked instead of a “because I said so!” pregnancy.
