Who are you?

I’m Mari: coalitiongirl and temporarilyobsessive.

What’s the difference between coalitiongirl and temporarilyobsessive?

There’s less and less every day, actually, and the posts do occasionally overlap. But I generally keep longer text posts, posts from other fandoms, reblogs, and my RL posts on temporarilyobsessive and not coalitiongirl.

Where else can I find you?

LiveJournal and Twitter. 

Why didn’t you accept me as a friend on Twitter?

I talk about pretty personal stuff there sometimes. If I don’t know you, I probably won’t friend back. If I do, send me a message and let me know who you are so I can accept you. :)

Do you follow back on Tumblr?

I’m often overwhelmed by my dash, so not usually. If I know you from outside of Tumblr or if we’ve gotten to know each other, I’ll probably start following you. Or maybe your blog just interests me. (Sometimes, though, I won’t even follow those if there’s too much negativity that I can’t handle. I’m sorry. :( ) Oh, and I usually will only follow back people who are following temporarilyobsessive, since that’s where I tend to have my conversations. :)

Do you have any gifs of [character, pairing…]?

This is your formula: “http://coalitiongirl.tumblr.com/tagged/Harmony+Kendall”. Replace “Harmony+Kendall” (note that the + serves as a space) with the person/ship of your choice, and you should find them all as far back as Tumblr will mark them. 

Where do you get your screencaps? 

Usually Disparue, BuffyWorld, Screencap Paradise, or I make them myself.

Where do you find transcripts of the episodes?

BuffyWorld has them, but I usually use the Buffyverse Dialogue Database.

How do you make your gifs?

The delightful jenni-rose originally directed me here, which is a great tutorial for beginners. I use Photoshop CS5 for all my gif-ing needs, and export the video frames (at 12 fps) from QuickTime Pro. 

Why won’t my gifs show up on Tumblr?

Tumblr is stupid. Oh, you need more than that? ;) Tumblr requires all gifs to be less than 1 mB and smaller than 500 px wide. The only way (that I know of) to beat it is to upload the gif to a photo storage site and embed it into the post’s html, but then it’s just displayed as a boring grey box and will probably go ignored. :( ETA: You can also use this userscript for Chrome and Firefox when you upload an image to avoid the grey box problem.

Where can I download Buffy Season 8/9/Angel and Faith?

Season 8 is here (not my folder), Season 9 is here, and Angel and Faith is here. New comics will generally be uploaded the day that they come out- if not, drop me a line and I’ll see what I can do.

Where can I download the Angel comics?

I don’t read them, and I have no download links on my blog. You can try joining LiveJournal and this community; they are usually uploaded there at some point. 

How do I open cbr/cbz files? Are they safe to download?

Cbr and cbz files are comic book files and, as far as I know, perfectly safe to download. If you have a Mac, you can try reading them with ComicBookLover or FFView, or extract them into images with StuffItExpander. If you have Windows, use CDisplay or unzip them with this tutorial.

Can I send you requests?

Feel free! But if you do and then send a request to someone else, please let me know. I don’t have much Tumblr time and I don’t want to waste it making double gifs. Don’t be afraid to let me know- I get far tetchier when I see that you’ve done it and haven’t told me.

Can I use your gifs elsewhere?

Feel free, though I’d prefer credit. DO NOT REPOST MY GIFS WITHOUT CREDIT, ON A POST THAT HAS NO OTHER CONTENT. As in a post that appears to be a gif that you’ve made yourself to share with the world. I will rage. I will also rage for other people’s sakes, so don’t do it to anyone else, either. (More on this here.) On the other hand, I have no issues with people using them to highlight a post, like this or this. That’s what they’re there for, right? :)

Why didn’t you make my request?

When I ask for gif requests, depending on the number of requests and the amount of time I have, I may not be able to make all of them. You can try to ask for them earlier the next time I ask, or, if you have a specific request (not a person, lyric, etc, but an actual scene) feel free to ask me again anytime.

How do I get onto your list of Buffyverse communities?

Send me an ask and let me know you exist. I will check to see that you are what you say you are. A community that claims to be all about Xander shouldn’t be packed with AtS gifs, and one saying it’s a BtVS blog shouldn’t have Glee on it. If it’s not a personal blog and it exclusively fits into the category it’s supposed to be in, I’ll gladly add it. :)
