I guess I just didn’t see it that way. No, you don’t kill a character to make him go away, but Giles has been around for three seasons with no purpose (arguably, though, his purpose in S6 was to be away, so maybe just two). And I thought his death was a nice mirror of Jenny’s and an appropriate finish for him- going out helping his slayer. :) I’m not happy with the comics, but I was satisfied with that, and I’m looking forward to Buffy and co. forging onwards as the sole adult figures at last.
